QBWC1012 Authentication Failed: How to Fix It
QBWC1012 means the app's web service rejected Web Connector's login or couldn't be reached. Here's how to fix passwords, connections and TLS settings.
QBWC1012 — "Authentication failed due to following error message" — means Web Connector tried to log in to the application's web service and didn't succeed. Either the service rejected the username and password, or Web Connector couldn't talk to the service properly.
1. Re-enter the password
This fixes most cases. If the password or access token for the connected app changed, Web Connector keeps sending the old one.
- In Web Connector, click in the Password column for that application.
- Type the current password (from the app you're syncing with) and press Enter.
- Choose Yes when asked to save it.
- Click Update Selected.
2. Check the connection
If the password is right, Web Connector may not be reaching the service at all:
- Open the app's website in a browser on the same PC to confirm the internet connection works.
- Check that a firewall or proxy isn't blocking Web Connector.
- Read the last lines of
QWCLog.txt(inC:\ProgramData\Intuit\QBWebConnector\log\) — they show the URL and the error returned.
3. Make sure Windows supports modern encryption
Web services require secure (TLS 1.2 or newer) connections. Very old Windows installations or outdated Web Connector versions can fail here. Install Windows updates and the latest Web Connector from Intuit.
4. Ask the app's support team
If none of the above works, the problem may be on the service's side — an expired account, a suspended subscription, or an outage. Send them the error text from the log.
Know when it happens
Authentication errors often start after a password change and go unnoticed for days. SyncGuard watches Web Connector's log and alerts you by email or text as soon as errors appear.
