How to Fix QBWC1085: QuickBooks Web Connector Log File Error
QBWC1085 means Web Connector can't write to its log file. Here's why it happens and the 3-minute fix: rename QWCLog.txt and restart Web Connector.
QBWC1085 means QuickBooks Web Connector had a problem with its log file, QWCLog.txt. Web Connector writes every sync to that file. If the file is damaged, locked by another program, or Windows won't let Web Connector write to it, you'll see QBWC1085 and syncing can stop.
The good news: it's usually a three-minute fix.
The quick fix: rename the log file
- Close Web Connector — right-click its tray icon and choose Exit.
- Open File Explorer and go to
C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QBWebConnector\log\. (ProgramData is hidden by default — paste the path into the address bar.) - Rename
QWCLog.txttoQWCLog.old. - Open Web Connector again. It creates a fresh log file.
- Click Update Selected to check syncing works.
If it comes back
If QBWC1085 returns, something keeps the log from being written:
- Permissions. The Windows user running Web Connector needs write access to the
logfolder. Right-click the folder → Properties → Security, and give that user Modify rights. - Antivirus or backup software locking the file. Add an exclusion for the
QBWebConnectorfolder. - A very large log. Logs that grow for years can cause trouble. Renaming it, as above, starts fresh.
- Running as administrator. Right-click Web Connector and choose Run as administrator once to confirm it's a permissions issue.
Don't wait to discover it
QBWC1085 is easy to fix but easy to miss — Web Connector shows it in a window nobody is watching. SyncGuard reads the same log every few minutes and alerts you as soon as Web Connector reports an error, so you can fix it before orders pile up.
