QBWC1048: Web Connector Could Not Verify the Server Certificate
QBWC1048 means Web Connector couldn't verify the app's security certificate. Usually it's a firewall, antivirus or an outdated .qwc file. Here's the fix.
QBWC1048: QuickBooks Web Connector could not verify the web application server certificate means Web Connector reached out to the app's server over HTTPS and couldn't confirm the server's security certificate. Web Connector won't sync with a server it can't verify, so the app stops.
Common causes
- A firewall, antivirus or web filter inspecting or blocking the HTTPS connection
- An old
.qwcfile pointing at a server address the app no longer uses - Windows missing current root certificates or TLS settings, common on older or long-unpatched PCs
- The wrong date and time on the computer, which makes valid certificates look invalid
How to fix it
- Check the date and time on the PC. Set it to update automatically.
- Run Windows Update and install everything, then restart. This refreshes root certificates and TLS support.
- Allow Web Connector through security software. Add an exception for
QBWebConnector.exeand the app's web address in your firewall, antivirus or web filter. Turn off HTTPS inspection for that address if your firewall does it. - Get a fresh
.qwcfile. Download a new one from the app, remove the app from Web Connector, and add the new file. This is Intuit's main recommendation for QBWC1048. - Try opening the app's address (the
AppURLin the.qwcfile, which you can open in Notepad) in a browser on that PC. A browser certificate warning confirms the problem is the PC or network, not Web Connector.
If none of that works, send the app's support team the QBWC1048 lines from C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QBWebConnector\log\QWCLog.txt.
Get told straight away
Certificate problems often start after a Windows or antivirus update overnight. SyncGuard reads the Web Connector log every few minutes and alerts you by email or text when an app reports QBWC1048, before a day's orders are missing from QuickBooks.
