QBWC1016: No Application Was Selected for Update (Fix)
QBWC1016 means Web Connector was told to update but no app was ticked. Here's how to fix it, and what to do if the box is already ticked.
QBWC1016: No application was selected for update is one of the simpler Web Connector errors. Web Connector was asked to run an update (by you clicking Update Selected, or by a schedule) but none of the applications in its list were selected.
The fix
- Open QuickBooks Web Connector (from the system tray, or the Windows Start menu).
- In the left-hand column, tick the checkbox next to each application you want to sync.
- Click Update Selected.
That's it for most people. The checkbox is easy to clear by accident, especially after Web Connector is reinstalled or an app's .qwc file is added again.
If the box is already ticked
If the app is ticked and you still get QBWC1016, the problem is usually in how that app's connection was set up:
- Remove and re-add the app. Select it, click Remove, then add its
.qwcfile again (from the app's settings or download page) with QuickBooks open. - Re-enter the password in the app's Password column and click Yes to save it.
- Ask the app's support team. Intuit's own guidance for this case is to contact the vendor of the application, because the update request comes from their side.
Don't forget Auto-Run
Ticking the box only matters for manual updates. For syncing without anyone at the computer, tick Auto-Run and set Every_Min for each app. Our guide to setting up Web Connector Auto-Run walks through it.
Know when an app stops
When an app is unticked or Auto-Run is off, nothing syncs and nothing warns you. SyncGuard watches each app in Web Connector separately and alerts you when one hasn't synced as often as it should.
